Psychotherapy
“Getting better together”
One on one and couples talk therapy is available to anyone 16 years of age and older. We have a small and very experienced team of therapists who deliver psycho-educational driven therapy. This is a collaboration between client and therapist. It takes a practical and problem-focused approach to your problems whereby both the client and therapist work together towards understanding problems in terms of the relationship between thoughts, feelings and behaviour.
The more actively involved the client is in this goal-orientated process, the better the outcome. Treatment is often action-orientated, with specific technique-driven, brief, direct and time-limited exercises for specific psychological disorders.

Although the focus of couples therapy is on the couple, there are times when the individual psychological issues of one or both parties need to be addressed.
Therapy often includes sessions designed to improve problem solving, build communication skills, and identify life goals and relationship responsibilities. Other common issues include infidelity, financial problems, illness, other life changes, and anger.
Depending on the level of distress in the relationship, therapy can be short term or over a period of several months.

Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy - Trauma Recovery For Childern
Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) is a therapeutic approach primarily used for children who have experienced early attachment trauma, such as abuse, neglect, or other adverse experiences. DDP was developed by Dr. Daniel A. Hughes and is based on attachment theory and principles. It focuses on helping both the child and their caregiver(s) to heal and develop secure attachment relationships. Here's an overview of how DDP works:
Assessment: The therapist begins by conducting a thorough assessment of the child's history, including any traumatic experiences and attachment disruptions. The therapist also assesses the child's attachment style, emotional regulation, and their caregiver's ability to provide a safe and nurturing environment.
Therapeutic Alliance: The therapist establishes a strong therapeutic alliance with the child and their caregiver(s). This trust and rapport are crucial for the success of the therapy.
PACE Approach: DDP uses a therapeutic approach known as PACE, which stands for Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Empathy. PACE emphasizes these four principles to create a safe and healing environment.
Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy is a relational and attachment-based approach that recognizes the profound impact of early attachment experiences on a child's development. By providing a safe and nurturing environment and using techniques that promote healing and attachment, DDP aims to help children and their caregivers build more secure and healthy relationships.
